Description
Paper napkin featuring Marimekko’s iconic Unikko pattern. Unikko means poppy in Finnish, which is exactly what the abstract floral pattern on the napkin depicts. Maija Isola designed the pattern in 1964 as a protest against Marimekko’s founder, Armi Ratia, who had stated that Marimekko would never produce anything with a floral pattern. Unikko has therefore come to symbolize strength, courage, and the belief that one should always believe in oneself.
