Edblad’s stainless steel jewelry should be sorted as scrap metal or bulky waste at the recycling center along with other metal items that are not packaging, such as tea lights, camp lanterns, frying pans, cutlery, etc. For jewelry containing additional materials such as synthetic stones & beads, natural pearls, glass, or bracelets containing leather, these should be sorted into the category that makes up the majority of the jewelry. Plated jewelry is always sorted as scrap metal since the steel content is higher. In the subsequent process, additional materials are separated so that the steel content can be recycled through smelting to produce new steel, while the remaining parts are recycled according to their respective materials. Steel is 100% recyclable, meaning it can be remelted multiple times to produce new steel of the same quality. Silver Jewelry Edblad’s silver jewelry can be taken to a silversmith for recycling and reuse. Many recycling centers have a section for reuse—often, intact and clean items can be put to good use by someone else instead of being thrown away, regardless of the material the jewelry contains. Gift Boxes and Paper Bags Edblad’s gift boxes and wrapping paper should be placed in the paper recycling.
