The design brand MYYA was launched in 2017 and got the name from "my miya" which means palace in Japanese. Japanese homes are often very small, which means that every object that is taken home is an important decision and thus becomes very valuable. All designs at MYYA are designed by Mimmi Silesius, who studied at Linneuniversitet, Kosta Glasskola and Sunderland University (National Glass Center).
Mimmi has great experience in ceramics and glass and has previously designed for Ikea, West Elm, Hübsch and others. Mimmi often finds her inspiration in poetry and the daydreams of life. The result is design that is often perceived as feminine and easy to embrace. She is also inspired by romantic impressions in nature and what makes everyday life more poetic and, for example, a sky full of expressive clouds. Each product in MYYA is named after nature, as a red thread in the products, but it is not necessarily pictorial or descriptive.
