Kumvana Gomani Holmberg
Kumvana Gomani Holmberg is a trained designer who has studied at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. She has worked as a designer in the film industry in Canada for many years before moving to Sweden in 2006. In Sweden she started her own company, focusing on sustainable and fair design.
In 2009 she won the international designer competition Inhabitat Eco, which was a great recognition. After that, she was invited to participate in the Eco Chic fashion show in Geneva, where she displayed her first collection of jewellery and clothing made from recycled material. Her self-designed Swedish Love Story necklaces and bracelets began to be sold at MoMa New York as well as in Seoul and Tokyo – and they continue to be hugely popular. In the same year, Designtorget started selling her jewellery in both the Swedish and Norwegian stores.
Kumvana is based in Örebro but sees herself as a designer without national borders. She collaborates with designers in, among others, Cambodia and India. When you buy a product from Kumvana you don’t only get quality design, but you also help to support families in these countries.
All Kumvana’s metal-based jewellery that you find at Designtorget are made of a slightly different material. They are made from recycled land mines!
