Oiva Toikka, born 1931, is one of the 20th century's foremost Finnish ceramics and glass artists. Toikka, who began his artistic career as a ceramist, was artistic leader of Notsjö Glasbruk from 1963.
Toikka is today mainly associated with Iittala, but not for the well-known production of glass birds and the Kastehelmi series. The successes have also been great in other artistic areas. Toikka has, for example, been employed as a costume designer for a number of theater and opera productions, of which the ones at the Finnish National Opera should be mentioned.
