Lotta Sjöberg

Lotta Sjöberg grew up and lives in Öland, Sweden, where she has had her own workshop and shop for over 40 years. The interest in color and form has always existed and she studied Ceramic Crafts at the Cappellagården in 1972. Since then, her focus has been utility ceramics but also creates public decorations and works with on demand projects for reputable restaurants and taverns.

Today, Lotta works with both calm basic colors and simple shapes and at the same time has a preference for colourfulness.

“For me it is important to do what I feel is fun and that people appreciate. I do not create the same things today as I did 45 years ago but sometimes the time catches up and forms as well as trends in glaze selection re-appear. It is something you notice when you have worked with this for such a long time. A challenge is clearly to keep a continuity when you want to try new things and time rarely suffices for all ideas and thoughts. Regardless, I want you to be happy with my ceramics and see the value of genuine craftsmanship that is also unique. It is fun to be presented at Designtorget, which gladly showcases crafts and smaller productions".
